The French do not really celebrate Halloween, as All Saints Day on November 1st is the recognized holiday in France. Coming back from an awesome yet exhausting trip from Poland, a group of past and present lecteurs decided to shake things and do something a little different, and definitely unique, for the holiday (and kindly invited me to join them!)
L‘Hybride is an independent film cinema located in the center of Lille. Open four nights per week, L’Hybride features a variety of films produced by independent directors and aspiring film makers.
On Halloween night, L’Hybride had a special presentation entitled Foire Aux Monstres.
The special program featured “scary” movies (as in France, Halloween is interpreted as “scary”). Usually, entrance is free. The cinema is composed of a bar, and lots of couches. It is definitely a cool, unique thing to do in Lille, and something I would recommend to anyone in the area. My favorite film of the evening was about an alien invasion and kidnapping a baby.
Have you ever been to an independent film cinema?
